The first Blythe Dolls were created and sold in 1972 by Kenner (toy company now out of business). The dolls were designed by Allison Katzman in 1972 with the notable feature of their huge eyes being able to change colors by pulling a string.
The NEO Blythe Dolls are created and sold by Takara of Japan. The dolls were a "hit" in Japan and are quite popular. Takara has released over 100 NEO Blythe Dolls to date. Some of these releases are Limited Editions -- and are priced higher.
