The original Blythe Dolls were made in 1972 by Kenner (a toy company no longer in business).
In 2002 Hasbro Company had the Takara Company in Japan create a New Edition of the Blythe Doll -- the NEO Blythe Doll. The Blythe dolls were used in an ad campaign and became very popular in Japan.
Takara has released over 100 different NEO Blythe dolls and up to 80 Petite Blythe Dolls. The Takara Blythe dolls price are around $60 to up to $300 or more retail depending on the edition.
